Mutual Aid and Rapid Response Contain Early Morning Basement Fire in Sherman

Sherman, CT - The Sherman Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Terrace Drive, where initial arriving units found a home filled with smoke and confirmed an active basement fire. All occupants had safely evacuated prior to firefighters’ arrival.

Crews deployed multiple hose lines to attack the fire, utilizing both on-scene resources and incoming mutual aid apparatus.


Water supplies were established from Laurel Drive and Candlewood Lake Road to support sustained firefighting operations. The fire was brought under control in a timely manner.


Firefighters from Gaylordsville, Kent, and New Milford assisted on scene, while Sherman and New Milford Community Ambulance provided EMS standby. Operations were completed without any injuries, and the incident remains under investigation by the Sherman Fire Marshal’s Office.
