Around 8:35 pm on Thursday, 4/2/26 the Taftville Fire Department with Norwich's Squad A, Engine 2, Truck 1 and Battalion were dispatched to 106 Canterbury Turnpike for a garage fire. Dispatch updated responding companies that they were taking multiple calls, so the working fire was transmitted. This added Engine 3, Mohegan Tribal FAST, American Ambulance and Norwich Public Utilities.
Car 2 arrived with a well involved attached garage that was spreading into the home and van in the driveway. Engine 21 stretched a 1.75" hose to the front, while Squad A established the water supply. A 2.5" hose line was then deployed to the front of the garage while hose lines were stretched into the home.
An Occum Engine was added for manpower. East Great Plain Ladder 5 covered Headquarters, while Laurel Hill Engine 62 covered Greeneville. The Norwich Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
