First-Alarm Fire Draws Mutual Aid on Route 53

ASHVILLE — April 8th — As part of a first-alarm assignment, Rescue 60 responded to a reported house fire in the 4,000 block of Portage Street (Route 53) on Wednesday at 2:05 p.m.


When the Rescue 60 crew arrived, they were given Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) responsibilities and operated alongside Station 83. Members staged equipment and remained ready to aid interior staff in the event of an emergency.


With RIT staff concentrating on firefighter safety and accountability during active fireground conditions, the assignment emphasized coordinated operations between companies.


Neither the cause of the fire nor any other information about injuries were made public.
