Multi-Department Response to Major Barn Fire in Warsaw

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

WYOMING, NY — March 7th — Shortly after the first chief arrived on the site, a barn fire was elevated to a fourth alarm, prompting firefighters from the Wyoming Hook & Ladder Co. Inc., 26 Maple St., Wyoming, NY, to react on mutual aid to assist the Warsaw Fire Department. Engine 5 was originally requested to provide station coverage, but it was later reallocated to operate at a fill site, and Wyoming Tankers 1 and 3 were assigned to water delivery operations.

The first two draft locations were inaccessible due to soft ground conditions brought on by a recent thaw, but crews moved and created a new water source a few kilometers away. For around five hours, ten firefighters from Wyoming worked to support the tanker shuttle. During the event, the fire departments of Pavilion, Le Roy, and Batavia supplied district coverage.
