Mutual Aid Crews Respond to Hickory Road Barn Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

FAWN GROVE, PA — March 20th — The Citizens Volunteer Fire Company's firefighters helped Station 54 put out a working barn fire in the 9300 block of Hickory Road. As part of the mutual aid assignment, Engine 56, Tanker 56, and Supply 56 responded to assist with suppression operations. Because of the remote location and restricted access to hydrants, Supply 56 set up a drafting operation from a pond close to Webb Road and Piedmont Road in order to supply water continuously.

In order to support fire assault activities and sustain water flow, crews collaborated with other companies. Due to the size of agricultural buildings and the materials that are typically kept inside, barn fires frequently demand enormous amounts of water. During rural fire events, mutual aid cooperation between nearby units ensures an efficient response.
