FAWN GROVE, PA — March 14th — A brush fire in the 200 block of Buckwheat Road was responded to by firefighters from the Citizens Volunteer Fire Company. When units like Supply 56, Tanker 56, and Brush 56-1 arrived, they discovered a minor vegetation fire blazing in an open space beside the road. Before the fire was put out, it burned an estimated 100 by 10 feet of bush. Crews used hose lines and hand tools to limit the fire.

Before leaving the scene, firefighters looked around for any extensions and hot spots. In dry, windy weather, brush fires are prevalent because grass and leaves can catch fire and spread swiftly. Fire officials asked homeowners to refrain from burning outside until the weather improves and cautioned them that strong winds might increase the risk of outdoor fires spreading.
