Gettysburg , PA - Gettysburg Fire Department, along with EMS and Fire Police, was dispatched to the 2100 block of Old Harrisburg Road in Straban Township for a report of a vehicle striking a utility pole with unknown injuries.

Rescue 1 arrived to find a utility pole down across the roadway, with Fire Police already blocking traffic to secure the scene. EMS personnel were assessing the vehicle’s driver while firefighters worked to maintain a safe perimeter, as the power lines remained energized.

Met-Ed was requested to remotely shut down power, and a company representative arrived to confirm the lines were still live before performing additional work to make the scene safe. Once the area was secured, control of the incident was turned over to Met-Ed, with Fire Police remaining on site for traffic control.

The driver declined transport, and the incident is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police. The roadway will remain closed until utility repairs are completed.
