Mutual Aid Response Sends South Berwick Firefighters to Berwick Structure Fire

South Berwick, ME — March 1st — Ten firemen from the South Berwick Fire Department's Ladder 2, Tank 3, and Car 1 responded to a reported garage and house fire in nearby Berwick. The response was a component of the established mutual aid system that local departments employ to guarantee sufficient personnel and equipment during work-related incidents.


Additional staff covered the South Berwick station as crews worked at the fire incident. During the event, Engine 1, Engine 4, and Car 6 continued to operate and responded to other fire and EMS calls in the district. Mutual aid between Berwick and South Berwick is common and keeps both areas covered. The method guarantees uninterrupted emergency responses while enabling departments to assist one another.
