Dump Truck Entanglement Prompts Emergency Response on Flint Crossing Road

Canaan, NY - On March 28 at approximately 1:04 PM, the Canaan Fire Department was dispatched by Columbia County 911 to an incident involving a dump truck that had become entangled in overhead wires on Flint Crossing Road (Route 22, near the dead end) in Canaan.

Canaan units, including Engine 3441, Car 1, and Car 2, responded to the scene alongside the Red Rock Volunteer Fire Company. Upon assessment, command determined that Canaan personnel could manage the situation, and Red Rock units were released from the call.

The incident also drew a response from the New York State Police, with one unit on scene, as well as Consolidated Communications, which deployed six units to assist.

Due to the entanglement, one of the dump truck’s wheels was lifted off the ground, creating a potentially hazardous situation. Firefighters worked in coordination with Tactical Trucking LLC and Consolidated Communications to safely disentangle and remove the vehicle while prioritizing scene safety and minimizing environmental impact.

Flint Crossing Road was temporarily closed to traffic during the operation.
