Walden Home Suffers Major Damage from Heavy Fire

WALDEN, NY - Walden FD responded to a reported structure fire at 54 Walnut Street on March 31st.


Units arrived to find a two-and-a-half-story residence fully involved. Walden requested a second-alarm to be sounded, sending Coldenham-Engine, Montgomery-Ladder, Maybrook-Engine, Newburgh FAST, Pine Bush-Tower Ladder, Wallkill-Engine, and Orange Lake-Engine to the scene as mutual aid. 


At the 30-minute status check, four lines were stretched and the bulk of the fire was knocked down. Walden Police and EMS were at the scene. The Fire Investigator was requested to the scene, as well as NYSEG to cut the power. Orange County Deputy Fire Coordinator 36-4 36-12, Fire Investigators 36-101 36-111, Ulster County Deputy Fire Coordinator 56-4, and Orange County Sheriff's Department Deputy and Arson Canine were also at the scene.


The fire was declared under control and status checks stopped 50 minutes after arrival. Major overhaul was then in operation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
