March 22, 2026 — A large brush fire burned approximately seven acres of wooded terrain in the White Oak area, prompting a multi-agency response and extended operations. Shortly after 3:00 PM, White Oak Volunteer Fire Department Station 299 and Station 300 were dispatched to Lincoln Way behind the Rose Restaurant for a reported brush fire. Truck 299, already out on training, responded immediately, with command officers arriving to find a rapidly spreading fire across a significant wooded area.
Crews from Station 299 and Station 300 initiated suppression efforts, establishing fire lines using hand tools and deploying available water resources. Due to difficult access and limited water supply, additional tankers, UTV units, and mutual aid companies were requested. The fire eventually extended into neighboring Westmoreland County, drawing further resources from multiple surrounding departments and the DCNR Bureau of Forestry.
Firefighters worked for approximately five hours to contain and extinguish the blaze, successfully preventing further spread despite challenging terrain and conditions. No injuries were reported, and crews cleared the scene after bringing the fire under control.
