Amber, NY — March 2nd — On a farm property, firefighters from Department Amber Fire & EMS responded to a reported fire in a small agricultural utility building. The building, which measured roughly 12 by 15 feet and had a lofty roofline, included machinery for managing manure. When crews arrived, they discovered that the upper walls and roof were on fire. The structure included a poly container, a big pressure washer, and a piston pump that moved manure via pipes to a dung pond.
Firefighters battled to keep the fire contained and prevent it from spreading. There was little chance of an extension because the building was situated apart from other farm buildings. After controlling the fire, the crew finished the overhaul to look for any hidden fires.
