UTICA, NY — March 3rd — A reported working structure fire on Harding Place prompted the Utica Fire Department to respond.
After arriving, units from the department's 2nd Platoon established command and started suppression operations. In addition to using hose lines to contain the fire, firefighters searched the interior of the building for people and any extensions.
While activities were underway, more teams helped with ventilation and scene safety. While firemen worked, police assisted with traffic control and area security. Engine and truck companies must work together to suppress working structure fires and safeguard surrounding homes. Crews stayed on the site until the fire was contained and the building was examined for any potential risks, according to fire officials.
