This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Niagara Falls, NY — March 14th — A working residential fire on Young Street prompted the Department Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station 914th Fire Department to react to a mutual aid request from the City of Tonawanda. A 2½-story wood-frame house had a fire on its first floor, according to the first City of Tonawanda units to arrive. Crews reported that the fire had spread into the attic through gaps in the walls.

Chief 2 and Engine 7 arrived to help. Firefighters from the 914th Fire Department were tasked with conducting vertical ventilation on the metal roof to expel smoke and heat as soon as they arrived. Additionally, crews looked for additional fire extension and helped with a secondary search of the house. In Western New York, mutual aid actions continue to be a standard component of fire agency operations.
