This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Levittown, NY — March 9th — A propane tank leak at a home on Raspberry Lane in Levittown was reported to the Wantagh Fire Department. As firemen discovered a full 20-pound propane cylinder that was actively leaking, Second Assistant Chief Christopher Dolley took command. In order to safely release pressure and remove the risk, crews started getting ready for a controlled burn-off procedure.

HazMat technicians and former captains Tom Brandon and John Licata were able to stop the leak before the burn-off was required. For over an hour, Captains Alexis Avolio, Mike Fratello, and Patrick Maher operated Engines 1, 2, and 7. The HazMat Team from the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office also arrived to help. The incident was secured, and no casualties were reported.
