Automatic Aid Response Contained After HVAC Malfunction Causes Smoke in West Deptford Building

Woodbury, NJ - Battalion 5 and Ladder 5 responded to an automatic aid request in West Deptford Township for a reported building fire in the 200 block of Crown Point Road at the DYFS office.
Upon arrival, Chief 6 reported smoke inside the building. Squad 6 began investigating, while Ladder 5 was assigned to the Bravo Division to access the roof and inspect the HVAC system for a possible malfunction.
Crews identified a burnt booster blower within the HVAC system as the source of the smoke. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately two hours to secure the unit and ventilate the building, successfully clearing the smoke.
All companies later cleared the scene and returned to service. No injuries were reported.
The department expressed pride in assisting neighboring communities when called upon.
