Jay Fire/Rescue Responds to Rollover Crash with Downed Power Lines, Urges Public Safety Awareness
March 19, 2026 — Jay Fire/Rescue Department responded early this morning to a single-vehicle rollover on Intervale Road involving a snapped utility pole and downed power lines.
Upon arrival, crews discovered the vehicle overturned with significant hazards present, including live electrical lines. The driver had left the scene prior to emergency personnel arrival, prompting concern for potential injuries and complicating initial response efforts.
Officials emphasized the importance of remaining at the scene of an accident, noting that in low-visibility conditions it can be difficult to determine whether occupants were ejected or left voluntarily. Downed power lines and other hazards also pose serious risks to both victims and responders.
In addition to the incident response, the department advised residents to avoid the collapse area of a local church in the Falls and to be mindful of road closures near the Knapp Street intersection.
Fire officials reiterated their message: emergency responders are there to ensure safety, not to judge, and cooperation at incident scenes is critical for everyone involved.
