March 17, 2026 — Ferrisburgh firefighters responded to a reported structure fire on Greenbush Road at approximately 7:30 a.m., finding flames showing from a second-floor bedroom window upon arrival.
All occupants had safely exited prior to the arrival of crews. Officials credited the homeowner’s quick thinking—specifically closing the bedroom door—with helping contain the fire and ultimately saving the structure.
Engine 1 arrived with a crew of three and initiated an interior attack, quickly knocking down the fire and limiting damage to the room of origin. Additional crews from Ferrisburgh and Vergennes checked for extension into the attic and surrounding areas.
The fire is believed to be accidental, with early indications pointing to an overloaded electrical outlet. Fire officials remind residents to avoid overloading outlets and power strips to reduce the risk of fire.
All units cleared the scene and returned to service.
