Mastic Beach Fire Department Honors Members’ Tireless Storm Response

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Mastic, NY - The Mastic Beach Fire Department reported that on monday 23rd February 2026, most of its members were just returning home after being at the firehouse since noon the previous day. Throughout the storm, members continuously maintained the property, shoveling and plowing snow and ice to ensure a safe and rapid response to emergencies.

Once conditions allowed, crews went out to assist, digging out older life members, widows of former members, and fellow firefighters on standby—many of whom had been on duty for more than 30 hours, away from their families, prioritizing the safety of their community.

The department extended its gratitude to its dedicated members for their unwavering commitment and thanked residents who stayed off the roads during the storm, which helped both emergency response and road-clearing crews work more efficiently.
