This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Esopus, NY — April 24th — Volunteers from the Esopus Fire Department staffed units 27-14, 27-15, and 27-97 on Friday night throughout many operational times. While keeping equipment ready, crews assisted with ongoing incident activities. In order to maintain coverage and crew rotation, a second crew member returned on Saturday morning to help with 27-14 and 27-97. Relief personnel are frequently needed for extended replies in order to preserve equipment functionality and safe operations.

During multi-period disasters, volunteer departments are crucial in maintaining operations by striking a balance between human availability and reaction demands. Departments are able to achieve operating requirements while maintaining readiness thanks to coordinated personnel and assistance.
