NORWALK, CT - The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a reported person floating in the Norwalk River on Sunday, March 15th.
Norwalk 911 received a call from a person on Commerce St. who reported they saw someone floating in the river. First arriving companies were able to make contact with the caller, who stated they saw the person on the other side of the river near the rocks floating with the current.
Firefighters made their way behind #9 Wall Street where they were able to get a visual of a female floating in the water. Two firefighters in cold water suits entered the water and were able to successfully grab the victim and maneuver her towards the shore.
Firefighters were able to remove her from the water up the rock-covered embankment into a stokes basket. At that point she was carried to an awaiting stretcher and transferred over to EMS.
The female patient was admitted to Norwalk Hospital, with no further information on her condition.
