Lisbon, ME - On 14th February 2026 at pproximately 12:21 PM today, the Lisbon Communications Center dispatched the Lisbon Fire Department to 180 Lisbon Street near the Lisbon Flea Market after a motor vehicle reportedly went over an embankment and into the Sabattus River.

Lisbon Emergency Medical Services arrived first and confirmed that the vehicle had left the roadway and was partially in the river. The lone occupant had already self-extricated prior to the arrival of emergency crews.

Firefighters from the Lisbon Fire Department established command upon arrival. Because the vehicle had broken through the ice, personnel donned ice water rescue suits and prepared for a technical recovery operation. The driver was transported by EMS to a hospital as a precaution for minor injuries.

Mid-Coast Towing responded with a heavy rotating wrecker to assist in removing the vehicle from the river. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection was also notified to assess the area for potential environmental concerns.

A total of seven Lisbon Fire Department personnel and three apparatus responded to the incident. After the vehicle was recovered and the scene secured, all units cleared and returned to service. No additional injuries were reported.
