This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At 1:53 PM, the Homer Fire Department responded to a report of a propane leak at 5650 Moore Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered two 1,000-gallon propane tanks on the premises. One of the tanks had become detached from its pedestal and tumbled down a knoll toward a nearby structure, cutting supply lines and creating propane leaks in both tanks.

Crews approached with gas meters to assess the situation and discovered that the main shutoff valves were still intact. Firefighters shut off the valves, halting the propane discharge, and then investigated the structure to ensure no propane had entered the building.Due to the nature of the incident, the City of Cortland Hazmat Team was requested to assist. Units cleared the scene and returned to service about an hour after dispatch.
