Canton Fire Department Assists in Mutual Aid Structure Fire in Lisbon
Canton, NY - On 6 Mar 2026 at 6:51 a.m., the Canton Fire Department was dispatched to assist with a working structure fire on State Highway 68 in Lisbon. Responding with Tower 1, the department joined multiple mutual aid agencies to combat the blaze.
Upon arrival, the crew of Tower 1 reported to Lisbon Command (19-1) and was assigned to operate on the “B” side of the structure. Their task involved assisting with fire suppression and overhaul operations on the second floor and roof area on their side of the house. On the opposite side, Ogdensburg Fire’s Quint 1 was positioned to perform similar operations.
Both truck crews worked in coordination with ground crews to bring the remaining fire in the upper floor and attic area under control. Once the flames were knocked down, firefighters continued with overhaul operations to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
The Canton Fire Department operated alongside Lisbon Fire, Heuvelton Fire, Ogdensburg Fire, Rensselaer Falls Fire and Rescue, and Morristown Fire. Frigid temperatures that morning presented additional challenges for both the firefighting efforts and maintaining the water supply.
After several hours on scene, the Canton Fire Department returned to service at 11:12 a.m.
