Hannawa Falls, NY - Hannawa Fire Department was toned out for a rescue on Sandstone Trail at 10:43 a.m. Responding alongside Hannawa were Pierrepont Fire, Car 10, and Colton Rescue.
Upon arriving on the scene, the chief requested additional assistance from Potsdam Fire and asked Car 10 to have the Parishville High Angle Rescue Team respond as well.
The situation involved a dog that had slipped off a cliff and landed on the riverbank below. The dog’s owner attempted to climb down the cliff to reach the animal but was unable to climb back out afterward, leaving both stranded.
Rescue crews worked together to safely bring both the owner and the dog to safety. The owner was reported to be unharmed, while the dog suffered a possible broken leg and was transported for treatment.
Officials expressed their appreciation to all the departments involved in the coordinated rescue effort.
