TAUNTON, NY — March 6th — Units from the Taunton Fire Department responded to a suspected carbon monoxide alert in the Breckenridge section of the upper district.

Ladder 5 and Engine 4 arrived on the scene to examine the alert, which was eventually confirmed to be triggered by a defective detector.

While on the site, firefighters positioned Engine 4 near a nearby hydrant and Ladder 5 deployed its aerial to the top of the residence in accordance with standard response procedures. Officials stated that occurrences such as carbon monoxide alarms provide excellent chances for firemen to practice positioning, coordination, and operational readiness.

Before clearing the call and returning to service, crews checked that there was no hazard within the property.
