Early Morning Fire Alarm Incident Causes Damage at West Side School in Oyster Bay

Oyster Bay, NY - In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the Oyster Bay Fire Department and the Atlantic Steamer Fire Company responded to an automatic fire alarm at West Side School, located within the Oyster Bay Fire District. The elementary school is part of the Cold Spring Harbor School District.
The department was alerted at approximately 4:42 a.m. Due to the nature of the incident, mutual aid was requested from several neighboring fire departments, whose assistance played a significant role in supporting the operation.
Additional agencies, including Nassau County FireCom, the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management, also responded and assisted at the scene.
West Side School unfortunately sustained damage as a result of the incident. The situation was brought under control through the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies working together.
The Oyster Bay Fire Department expressed its appreciation to the mutual aid departments and county agencies for their prompt response and continued cooperation.
