The Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company was summoned at 7:57 p.m. on March 9 for a reported structure fire on Lampman Road in the Town of Broadalbin, following complaints of a strong smoke odor in and around a property.
Firefighters responded to investigate a probable electrical problem. The Perth Volunteer Fire Company was initially called for mutual help, and police and Lake Valley EMS also arrived on the site. The Mayfield Fire Department was instructed to stand by at their station throughout the event.
Firefighters utilized a thermal imaging camera to find the source of the stink. As the inquiry progressed, Perth units were redirected to standby at the Broadalbin firehouse. No fire extension was reported, and the situation was handled by responding crews.
