BATAVIA, NY — February 16th — At a reported loader fire at 4109 Batavia-Elba Townline Road in the Town of Elba, the City of Batavia Fire Department, located at 18 Evans St., arrived to support the Elba Fire Department. When firefighters arrived, they discovered a loader completely engrossed in an open shed. Crews sought to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to surrounding buildings and equipment.

A second alarm was requested in order to get more personnel and equipment to the scene due to the volume of fire and resources required. Due to gasoline, hydraulic fluids, and the scale of the machinery involved, equipment fires can pose significant risks. Coordinated suppression tactics were undertaken by firefighters to contain the fire.
