Goshen Firefighters Battle Transfer Station Fire

February 5, 2026 — At approximately 9:30 a.m., the Goshen Fire Department was dispatched to the Orange County Transfer Station on Training Center Lane for a reported building fire.
Orange County Coordinator 36-1 arrived and reported an active fire inside the structure involving heavy machinery. Upon the arrival of Car 2, a second alarm was transmitted, bringing additional mutual aid departments to the scene and for standby coverage.
Firefighters operated multiple handlines from Goshen apparatus while Mechanicstown Fire Department Tower Ladder 121 placed an elevated master stream into service. Crews worked for about an hour to bring the fire under control while heavy equipment was used to assist with overhaul operations. One civilian was treated for smoke inhalation and one firefighter sustained minor injuries.
Numerous mutual aid departments, EMS agencies, law enforcement units, and Orange County resources assisted with manpower and equipment during the incident.
