JERSEY CITY, NJ - On the morning of March 6th, Jersey City firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire involving a Randolph Avenue dwelling.

With reports of people trapped, including a woman in a wheelchair, Fourth Battalion Chief Kenneth Simone transmitted a 2nd alarm upon arrival. Firefighters quickly rescued three occupants and a dog. Two women were considered in serious condition, according to the Jersey Journal. During the fire, there was a partial ceiling collapse and all firefighters were removed from the two-family home.

The stubborn fire was quickly knocked down by firefighters, with extensive overhaul. An exposure dwelling was evacuated, due to minor extension, and seven occupants were assisted by the Red Cross.
