Defreestville Assists at West Sand Lake Second Alarm

The Defreestville Fire Department responded to a second-alarm call on February 19 for a commercial building fire in the West Sand Lake Fire District. Engine 9-6, operated by six firefighters, was initially moved to the West Sand Lake Fire Station to provide district coverage. Shortly after arrival, the team was tasked with establishing a water supply from the nearest hydrant many miles away.


Engine 9-6 ran for around five hours, delivering over 50,000 gallons of water to apparatus transporting water to the fire area. Throughout the incident, Defreestville provided coverage in the Town of North Greenbush, with a standby crew at its station to handle any new emergencies.
