Brasher-Winthrop Fire Reports Busy February Activity

The Brasher-Winthrop Volunteer Fire Department responded to a number of incidents and training exercises in February.


On February 12th, at 5:40 p.m., firemen responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident, providing traffic control while EMS evaluated a patient before handing over the site to NY State Police. Later that day, personnel participated in a combined controlled burn training exercise with the West Stockholm Fire Department for the Town of Stockholm.


On February 16th, technicians responded to an electrical hazard caused by falling ice that pulled down a line. Members assessed the situation and alerted the appropriate agency after finding that it was not a power line.


On February 19th, at 5:39 p.m., firemen responded to a two-car accident with no injuries and assisted with traffic control until police arrived. On February 24th, at 6:41 PM, firefighters responded to a probable building fire after flames were reported in an oven. Firefighters used extinguishers to extinguish the fire and removed the oven from the house to check that no future threats existed.


On February 26th, at 11:56 a.m., the department responded in mutual aid with Tri-Town Rescue to assist a patient on a trail. The West Stockholm Fire Department also assisted, with firefighters working together to securely remove the patient from the area.
