Monroe County Crews Promote Fire Safety in Schools

Marathon, FL — February 21st — During Gerald Adams Elementary School's Community Day, Monroe County Fire Rescue - Florida Keys, 7280 Overseas Highway, Marathon, FL, United States, 33050, gave children and families an opportunity to interact with firefighters and gain knowledge about safety. Station 8 crews talked to students about smoke alarms, fire safety, and calling 9-1-1 in an emergency while showcasing their equipment.


In addition, firefighters offered advice on basic emergency preparedness and house escape planning, two topics that continue to be important components of the department's outreach initiatives throughout the Florida Keys. According to officials, such gatherings foster close ties with the community and promote early fire and life safety instruction. Youth engagement programs also aid in raising awareness and promoting safe practices at home and at school.
