February 20, 2026 — Franklin Fire Company responded at approximately 11 a.m. with Engine 43 and Ladder 42, staffed by eight personnel, to the Dollar General on Lincoln Way West for a reported odor of smoke inside the store. Upon arrival, crews conducted an interior investigation and traced the issue to an HVAC unit. Firefighters secured the unit and ensured there were no additional hazards before turning the scene over to property management. The incident was resolved quickly, allowing normal operations to resume without further issue.
