February 23, 2026 — Members of the Vergennes Fire Department Technical Rescue Team trained alongside the Middlebury Fire Department Technical Rescue Team during a hands-on evening focused on advancing critical rope rescue skills. The joint session emphasized core fundamentals such as knot tying, building secure anchor points, and safely passing a knot while rappelling from a vertical surface. These highly perishable skills demand regular practice to maintain the precision, safety, and efficiency required during real-world technical rescue incidents. Training together strengthens interoperability between departments and reinforces a shared commitment to delivering the highest level of emergency service to their respective communities. Officials expressed appreciation to all participants for their professionalism and continued collaboration.
