Gilsum, NH - Gilsum Fire/Rescue personnel participated in a downed firefighter extrication and rescue training exercise. The training was conducted to ensure members understand and regularly refresh the techniques and methods required to quickly and efficiently remove one of their own from a hazardous environment.

While personnel frequently train on victim extrication in dangerous conditions, this exercise emphasized the unique challenges of rescuing a downed firefighter. The presence of full protective gear and equipment significantly changes the methods and tactics available, making specialized training essential for firefighter safety and effective rescue operations.
