Amherst, NH - Amherst Fire and EMS emphasizes that prevention and education are just as vital as emergency response. On the same day crews were responding to a fire in Mont Vernon, Firefighter Emmons and Deputy Swenson visited the Sunrise Children’s Center to teach fire safety to a group of Pre-K students.

During the visit, Firefighter Emmons showcased firefighting gear while the team engaged the children in important discussions about fire safety. Students were given a “homework” assignment to create a fire drill and establish a safe meeting point at their own homes, reinforcing the lessons learned.

Amherst Fire and EMS expressed gratitude to the Sunrise Children’s Center for their warm welcome and the opportunity to interact with the children.
