2/24/2024- 230PM, The Fair Lawn PD switchboard went active with numerous 9-1-1 calls reporting a working house fire on 5th st. Police arrived within moments and determined that there were no occupants in the house at the time. First arriving Fire Co #3 immediately activated their deck gun at the heaviest fire. There were live power lines which had fallen to the ground hampering advancement to the fire. Soon after, numerous handlines were stretched and the heaviest fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes. Heaviest fire appeared to be on the front porch with major extension to the inside of the house and up thru the 2nd floor. Arriving Truck Co #1 had to cut several large tree limbs in front of the house in order to raise their ladder. Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene for any injuries and Rehab if needed. Public Service Electric responded to cut power to the fallen lines. Mutual Aid from surrounding communities in Central Bergen Mutual Aid Assn provided assistance at the scene. There were no injuries at the scene, but the dwelling is uninhabitable.
