Building Fire in Norwalk

NORWALK, CT - The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Wednesday, February 22nd at 10:45 A.M.

The fire was located at 48 Westport Ave. in a two-story commercial building. Initial reports stated fire and smoke coming from the roof. 

Upon arrival, Car 2 (Deputy Chief) reported heavy smoke coming from the roof of the structure towards the center of the building. The fire was extinguished in 30 minutes by a second alarm assignment consisting of 4 Engines, 2 Ladder Trucks, 1 Rescue Truck, and a command vehicle totaling 29 personnel. 

The fire appeared to have started in the stove area in one of the restaurants, and made its way up the vent work to the roof. Two handlines were used to extinguish the fire.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters, as well as no reported injuries to civilians. The Norwalk Fire Marshal's Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
