WALTHAM, MA - At about 5:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 21st, a routine fire alarm activation at 709 Moody Street in Waltham sent Engine 1, Squad 5 and Ladder 2. There was nothing showing when firefighters arrived; however, in the rear of the building a haze was coming from the building. It was determined that there was a delayed ignition causing high levels of carbon monoxide. Deputy Chief Tony Capello requested a second-alarm to assist in evacuating the apartment building. Engines 3, 4 and 8, along with Ladder 2, Rescue 1 and two medic units responded. There were no injuries.
