OXFORD, CT — March 20th — In response to a reported chimney fire on Jacob Road in Southbury, the Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Company provided mutual aid. The Southbury Fire Department was working at a residential building when Truck 46 and Car 1 were sent to help. Oxford's truck company supplied aerial and external support to reach the chimney and roof area since Southbury's ladder truck was out of commission.
To make sure the fire was contained, firefighters helped with overhaul operations, opening up around the flue, and checking for extension. For safe access and inspection, truck company resources are frequently needed for chimney fires in the area. Units returned to service after helping at the location, and operations were finished without any reported injuries.
