February 19, 2026 —Barnet Fire and Rescue gathered last night to celebrate an extraordinary milestone as Assistant Chief David Shields was honored for 50 years of unwavering service to the department and the community. The ceremony brought together former and current firefighters, along with Shields’ family and friends, to recognize his decades of leadership, commitment, and sacrifice.


Throughout his half-century career, Shields has played a vital role in strengthening the department, mentoring generations of firefighters, and ensuring the safety and well-being of Barnet residents. The evening served not only as a tribute to his remarkable career but also as a testament to the deep respect and admiration he has earned within the firefighting community.
