KILLINGLY, CT - At 3:04 P.M. on Wednesday, February 14th, the South Killingly, Danielson, Moosup and Sterling Fire Departments with the Plainfield FAST and KB Ambulance were dispatched to 23 Waterman Street for a house fire.
Ambulance 761 arrived at 3:12 P.M. reporting fire from the rear with smoke pushing from the eaves. Danielson ET-161 arrived at 3:14 P.M., reporting fire showing from the attic of a raised ranch. ET-161 forced entry and stretched a one-an-three-quarter-inch hose line through the front door and up the stairs.
Simultaneously, a crew stretched a one-an-three-quarter-inch hose line to the 'Bravo' side and began darkening down fire from the exterior. Engine 165 laid a 4-inch supply line into the scene from Wauregan Rd. Tower 161 backed into the driveway and flew their bucket to the rear. Ladder 194 also backed into the driveway and went to the roof for vertical ventilation.
Primary searches were conducted where firefighters located & rescued two dogs from the residence. Additional manpower was requested during the incident from the Atwood Hose & Dayville Fire Departments. The American Red Cross assisted 5 displaced individuals. The fire is under investigation by the Killingly Fire Marshall’s Office.
