SANTA ROSA BEACH, FL — January 15th — Early on Friday morning, the South Walton Fire District, located at 911 N County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, United States, 32459, responded to a fire involving a residential structure close to East Hewett Road. When crews arrived at 4:40 a.m., they discovered that the house was heavily burned throughout. They promptly set up a water supply while securing two neighboring homes.
In order to make sure the residents were safe, firefighters also looked around the nearby properties. The incident commander switched operations to a defensive strategy once the initial structure's roof collapsed. After the fire was contained, workers stayed on the scene for many hours to finish the overhaul and look for hotspots. Significant damage was done to the vacant house that was undergoing renovations. There was moderate heat damage to a nearby home.
