WILDWOOD, FL — February 10th —  Due to a wildland fire in the region, Sumter County Fire & EMS, located at 7375 Powell Road, Wildwood, FL, United States, 34785, blocked County Road 210 in Wildwood. Crews are still working to suppress and monitor the fire, which is thought to be around 100 acres in size.

In order to contain the fire and safeguard the surrounding buildings, several agencies responded and cooperated. To stop the spread, firefighters stay on the scene to inspect containment lines and deal with hotspots. Until the restriction is lifted, officials encouraged cars to stay off the road and take other routes. They pointed out that reducing traffic in the region promotes operational effectiveness and responder safety. As conditions shift and teams finish activities, updates will be provided.
