CHIPLEY, FL — January 16th —  Residents were alerted about a sizable controlled fire near Clayton Road and Orange Hill Road by Vernon Fire Rescue, 3560 Roche Ave, Vernon, FL, United States, 32462. The operation reduces vegetation and lowers the likelihood of future wildfires as part of a planned wildfire mitigation program.

As crews continue the monitored burn, officials warned that homeowners might smell and see smoke in the neighborhood for a few days. To guarantee safety and adherence to local and state regulations, the work is being carried out under supervised circumstances and under the supervision of skilled workers. The public was warned by Vernon Fire Rescue not to dial 9-1-1 unless there was an emergency or an uncontrolled fire. According to fire officials, effective emergency response and safety are supported by community knowledge.
