On Monday at approximately 4pm Aroostook Fire Protection Dist. 1 was dispatched to a Kitchen Fire in a Residence on Brunswick Avenue in Fort Fairfield.
Crews were already on scene of an MVA and were able to clear some units to respond. Within seconds, Chief Paul Durepo, Engine 3 and Rescue 7 responded.
On arrival of Chief Durepo, he found a 2 story single family residence with attached garage and nothing showing. Chief Durepo established Brunswick Avenue Command and on Engine 3’s arrival advised of fire on the kitchen stove.
Engine 3 deployed a Fire Extinguisher to the kitchen while Rescue 7’s crews were stretching an attack line to the front door. Engine 3’s crew found fire on the top and back of the stove. Crews knocked down the fire with the Fire Extinguisher and checked for extension. Rescue 7 ventilated the home with positive and natural ventilation.
The homeowners were quick in calling 9-1-1 and also pushed the stove away from the wall, which was credited to preventing fire spread.
Crews cleared the scene and reported back to the other units on scene at the MVA.
