January 23rd — Glover, VT — The Glover Volunteer Fire Department stated that Dorothy Mae Vernon Lydecker Westdyke, a former local, made a significant donation in May 2025 to improve firefighter safety and operations. Officials said the funds enabled the department to purchase three full sets of turnout gear, as well as additional helmets, to replace equipment purchased in 2003 and long past its recommended service life.

The department also purchased necessary tools, such as cut-off saws, chainsaws, vacuums, leaf blowers for brush and grass fires, and a folding ladder. Firematic helped with the turnout gear purchasing.
