February 9, 2026 — The Rindge Fire Department responded to Route 119 after reports of an injured horse wandering along the roadway for several hours, creating a potential hazard for motorists and the animal. Firefighters coordinated with the Royalston, Massachusetts Large Animal Rescue Team to safely secure and care for the horse while efforts were made to locate its owner. Cheshire County Police Dispatch assisted in the incident response and communication efforts. The horse was evaluated and stabilized at the scene before being moved to a safe location. Authorities later confirmed that the owner was located. Officials thanked the public for sharing information quickly, which helped bring the situation to a safe resolution.
